Cirtronics Hosts Robotic-Themed Manufacturing Day Event for Local High School Students

For Manufacturing Day, Cirtronics, a New Hampshire based contract manufacturer, welcomed future engineers for an Invitational event featuring a facility tour and a presentation by US First Robotics team Mechanical Mayhem.

Manufacturing Day Event In celebration of manufacturing day on October 7th, 2016, a group of 30 Milford NH High School and home school students attended an invitation-only event sponsored by Cirtronics, a local contract manufacturing company based in Southern New Hampshire.

Cirtronics organized and hosted the Manufacturing Day event to support education of the next generation of engineers and manufacturers. The students attended an exciting presentation given by the local US First Robotics team, Mechanical Mayhem (http://mechanicalmayhem.org/). Cirtronics supports Mechanical Mayhem by providing working and testing space for the team during the US First Robotics competition season

After the presentation, the students were given a tour of the manufacturing facility by Cirtronics’ Director of Manufacturing, Jim McCall.

The group was accompanied on the tour by a remotely operated robot that is built and tested at Cirtronics. Then the visitors were able to try out Mechanical Mayhem’s robot and interact more casually with team members, to hear about the engineering process and to learn more about the team.

“Inspiring the next generation of students to consider manufacturing as a career path is both personally and professionally gratifying”, says Gerardine Ferlins, President and CEO of Cirtronics. “We want students to see firsthand that there are jobs in manufacturing such as marketing communications and human resources that allow for a variety of interests, beyond engineering.” Ferlins continues, “For manufacturing to flourish here in the US, we need to continue to inspire students to consider a wide range of manufacturing career paths. By giving them an inside view of Cirtronics, we hope that they will come away with a feeling of broader understanding of manufacturing—and perhaps some of the same students will be welcomed as new employees a few years down the road.”
